Truck fire caused by faulty
muffler installation by muffler
shop in
New Brunswick
Last load up preparing to leave Moncton and back to Edmonton, April
28,1986, note the light-box on bottom right of truck box.
About an hour west of Montreal we noticed smoke in the
cab. A violin was crushed in the hurry to empty the truck.
All this was in complete darkness, only light was from cars
passing by and a small flashlight.
Hot muffler exhaust burns through 2" truck bed and almost right
through 3/4" plywood, if our light box was not in  the position it was,
it would have been a total loss.
When we stopped red hot coals were dropping  from under
the truck box,  We got lucky that night.
